Description of Work:

• This position will coordinate, plan, develop and carry out activities in Rutherford County related to Community Health Improvement (CHIP) relative to the Community Health Assessment (CHA).
• The primary function of the position is to work in partnership with Rutherford Regional Health Care System, RHI Legacy Foundation and other community organizations working to improve health.
• The focus will be on an “integrated approach” (Integrated Model) that deliberately seeks to link broad public health and community health promotion interventions that increase opportunity for healthy choices and behaviors with accessible, high-quality clinical services to reduce modifiable risks and provide effective care for illnesses.
• This position will also provide public health community education, information and awareness about public health and materials promoting local health department services.

Minimum Education And Experience:

Masters degree in public health education or in public health with a major in public health education; or graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in health education and two years experience in public health education or a related field; or graduation from a four-year college or university and three years experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications:

Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public health and public health education activities. General knowledge of modern educational theory and techniques in the field of public health education. General knowledge of journalistic principles and methods preparing subject matter in the promotion of public health activities. General knowledge of display techniques and skill in the arrangement of exhibits. Ability to work effectively with people on all educational levels and to maintain effective working relationships with local health departments, community agencies, and the public. Ability to write and speak effectively and to stimulate interest and cooperation among various groups in carrying out a program in public health education.
